My sister-in-law Patricia is a successful businesswoman. She runs Willart Productions and Conferencing In a Box and has been involved in high impact entrepreneurship training in Sweden and the United States. I am a creative with a passion for stories that changi people’s lives. For many years we wanted to work together on a project and the opportunity arose when Patricia approached me and said that she would like to create the kind of book she wished would have been around when she first went into business. We decided to survey men and women in Kenya to get a better idea of what was happening on the ground.

Our interests converged on the stories that these women shared that could help others. The results of the survey were enlightening; starting with the fact that twice as many men responded as women and yet we often assume that women share information more readily than men. We also found that the men we spoke to were willing to give women business but that often the ideas that they have about what business women can do are gender-biased. This book is a product of what can happen when two relatively different people come together in the service of others. We have aimed at keeping the language as accessible as possible and it is meant to be like those open and helpful chats that you can have with someone that seem quite light but at the same time provide you with tools and inspiration to help you on your way.
